Lego is by far the most dominant firm in building toys. Lego has a lot of different lines that are all under one umbrella. You may have heard of technic, mindstorm, bionicle, duplo, and quatro. These are all subsidiary brands of Lego.
For building toys, the technic and mindstorm are the most advanced. They often have moving parts, motors, and levers. They are usually for children eight years, of age, and older.
You can also build a lot of things with just a regular Lego set. This is what most people end up doing. They sit down with a regular Lego set and build a tower, a house, a car, or something similar.
If you really love to build, Lego has an online program that allows you to design your own thing and build it out of Legos. A lot of people have custom designed homes, skyscrapers, cars, and a whole lot more. If Lego loves your design, they just may use it for full production. It has happened before. The cool thing about Legos program is that they will send you the exact parts needed to build it.
